summary:  The Central Marina Improvements Phase 4 project will demolish the existing PORT-owned boathouses and floats that make up central G-Dock, reconstruct G-Dock with new concrete floats, relocate existing private boathouses to the new G-Dock and existing I-Dock, and dredge the area between Central F-Dock and H-Dock and within the South Marina near seiner wharf. Work included under this contract includes demolition of floating structures, extracting and disposing of creosote-treated piles, dredging and deep-water disposal, fabricating and installing new concrete floating docks, furnishing and installing galvanized steel pipe piles, float utility systems, relocating and securing existing private boathouses, and any and all other work necessary for a complete and serviceable facility.

A: The locations of both size piling are shown on sheet C2.0 and C2.1. All piles shall be 1/2-inch wall thickness. This will be formalized in an upcoming addendum.

Q: The existing junction box TB-B is a12" x 12" x 6" PVC box. Please confirm that junction box TB-B is large enough to splice 2- 4 conductor 3/0 cables plus 10 - 3/0 single conductors.

A: Junction box ‘TB-B’ is a new N4X junction box with waterproof terminals. Match size and type of existing N4X junction box below approach pier. Mount TB-B adjacent to, and aligned with, existing N4X box.

Q: According to sheet E1.0, we are removing a 400 amp 2 pole breaker and adding a 400 amp 3 pole GFI breaker. 1. The existing breaker feeding G dock is a 200 amp breaker not 400 amp. 2. Please confirm there is room in DP-2 to add a 400 amp breaker 3. A remote trip unit to detect a ground fault has been added to DP-2, so is a GFI breaker required.

A: Records indicate that space exists in panel DP-2 for the addition of specified circuit breaker. Circuit breakers in Panel DP-2 are not equipped with ground fault protection.

Q: Section 03 34 00 2.2 B States Inner core of float shall be closed cell foam with water absorption of less than 2 percent by volume. Will it be acceptable to change the specification to 4% max absorption? Typical EPS virgin foam can test at about 2.6% max absorption. Typical float calculations are based on and take into account the 4% max absorption typically seen in the industry for one pound per cubic foot EPS.

Q: To further clarify and define premature cracking and spalling of concrete surfaces under DIVISION 03 CONCRETE 3.10B will the Port please exclude from the coverage for premature cracking and spalling of concrete surfaces (i) bottom and side wall cracks that are less than or equal to .03 inches in width and 60 inches in length (ii) cracks which propagate from the side of the float and into the deck that are less than or equal to .02 inches in width, and (iii) deck cracks that are less than or equal to .02 inches in width and 60 inches in length.
